I want to know what modern engine (V8, alternator, support a stereo, and AC system ect….) I can with drop in without a ‘lota fuss. What transmission I can use. I need power brakes, steering ect…. Is there someone or book or website that can help me? I need to learn more about my truck and what I can do to it. | | |

What engine is in your truck right now?
If you have a 235 inline 6, you already have a cool engine....there is a lot you can do to a 6 and when you are done, you have a unique (not around here) ride.
With a little more info about your truck, you will get piles of ideas. | | |

All are inline sixes, and would make good power plants for a cool period hot rod. Pump a 261 chevy up around 200-225 horses and you have something that will impress the hell out of all the young guys and their rice burners, and wow everybody at shows and rallies. Putting a modern V8 in that truck would be like putting fake boobs on Britney Spears. Boo Radley  | | |

If you're gonna do a V8, undoubtedly the least expensive, easiest to find parts, easiest to work on is the small block 350.
Was gonna put a 350 in my truck but, I'm sticking with my inlines (for the above mentioned Britney reason).
Seeing as how you're in San Diego and all, I got a 4 bolt main 350 long block sitting in my garage. It's in good shape and it's yours for the price I paid in gas to get it home from Vista. Came out of a '75 Chevy truck. Just send me an email. | | |
