Is there any strong reason to sandblast the chassis? I am planning to degrease, sand and then go with Corroless and Chassis Black from Eastwood. I am wondering if the hassle of getting the chassis to and from the sandblaster is needed for a daily driver?

Thanks!

There are lots of different techniques and opinions on this, and there is not really a right answer. My opinion is that you don't need to sandblast if you are using a rust sealer like Corroless. You just need to get off loose rust, dirt, and grease.

If you go through the trouble of having it sandblasted, you might as well have it powder coated, or use a good bare metal primer (see this post for more on that).

I have ya a tip for removing all that caked on greese a dirt. Iam doing the samething. I had a lot of dried on, caked on greese and dirt I use purple de-greaser 2500 psi pressure washer. What worked best was Paint stripper. I use the Kleenstrip in the Gold can from Home Depot. Brushed that all over let it sit about an hour the Pressured washed againg it all came right off. Hope this helps

I've used Strypeze to clean them up and then used tractor paint after a primer/sealer rust converter base. The Jeeps we did are long gone but the paint is still on the barn floor! That's after 15 years.
