About 10 months ago I took the seat that was in my 57 when I bought it, to the upholstery man. He did a beautiful job on it for $200 He made it 2 colors and rolled and pleated inserts for the bottom and back.

Now, I am terribly disappointed since I have installed it. I am wondering if it came out of something else.
The back hits the curve in the back of the cab and will not go back far enough to be comfortable. It likes 2 or 3 inches hitting the cab below the rear glass. But I have wedged it in the curves as far as possible.
Could someone give me a rough measurement of the length of their seat back on a 55-59 model?
Thanks very much.

maybe you're just some bigger than folks were back then wink 55.5" outside to outside of the arms that the back mounts on - notice that those 'hinge' arms rest on adjustable bolts that are in brackets that stick out each side - the adjusters set the vertical angle of the back, and the brackets those bolts are in are frequently twisted/bent down/broken by years of abuse .... my seat all the way back on the tracks leaves a couple/few inches to the back wall without hitting anything .... the LCF shouldn't really be different there, see if you can adjust the back angle

Thanks Bill. I will try that. I think I am about average. 5ft. 10 inches. 170 lbs. I do have long arms and this thing has a huge steering wheel. I guess it is larger than a pickup.

Thanks for the measurement Bill. I do have the wrong seat. Mine measures 60.5 at the back arms. Must be out of a 60's model?
Now I have a beautiful gray & white seat I cannot use.
Got to start looking for an original seat now.

Thanks to all for the info. and measurements. I got lucky and found a seat out of a 1955 here in town. There is 5 inches difference in the width of the seats. (No wonder I couldn't install it.)
I already got it back from the upholstery man and put in the truck. I can drive it now!!
Since I was at it, I changed the color scheme from white & gray to turquoise and gray. Turned out beautiful and no white to get dirty off the seat of my pants!
