Can someone tell me if the front window frame for a low cab 36 GMC is the same as Chevy and whether it is a stand alone year or if it will interchange with 37-38 ? Same question about the doors ?

Rusty46..I may not answer your specific question but the new cab for 37 was suppose to be all new. Mainly because this is the first complete year with all steel construction cab. Earlier models were reinforced with wood meaning the doors to. The 36 fenders were "partially streamlined" while the 37 has "passenger car type" according to the book I have on the 37's engineering features. When I was resurrecting my 37 I found that it was the 38 that had the most in common that was the same or would interchange. The 37 was know as the Diamond series and was suppose to have better engine, all metal cab(which was introduced mid year for the 1935 model, and the engine cab was "moved forward" 5 1/4 and dash 5 3/4 inches than the 36's to help with weight load distribution. The "body panel" on 37 is bigger but that doesn't necessarily mean the doors were bigger as the mid year 35's had the all steel cab) There is a statement that the window regulators had one arm on 36 and two on 37's but that is just to make the window "more better"! I don't know if all this means a hill of beans but its all I can find right now.

Rusty, I must be half asleep. :rolleyes: I typed away without realizing you were asking bout the low cab GMC and not the difference in Low CAb 36 chev vs parts to the 37 chev. MY mistake. I went back and looked at the American Light-Duty Trucks book and it doesn't even say a word about the connection with the Chev. I would think the doors would be the same but then..... sorry for the confusion. :confused:
