Bought the stainless steel tail lamp conduit for my '49 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton. How do these %&#@ things install? Think I got the tail lamp end figured out but how about the frame end. Anyone got photos how they installed them would be a GREAT help!

So how many like me got suckered into buying the stainless steel conduit and they ended up in the trash?

I'm sure there's a way to make it work and look good.

Maybe someone will post a pic.
Don't toss it yet.

That looks really nice! Before you toss it in the can, send it to me!

Perhaps if you showed us the parts that are included? I am interested in this solution because my entire build is centered around stainless. Where did you get it?

I figured it out today. You have to slightly bend the cone shaped end and feed it through the tail lamp bracket. Then squeeze the cone at 90 degrees and round it back out. The cone will lock in behind the tail lamp when you tighten the tail lamp to the bracket. The sliding sleeve will need an "o" ring and 3M emblem adhesive. Slide the sleeve over the cone with the "o" ring inserted in the sleeve. Line the sleeve with emblem adhesive and it is installed! Deve, I got these on E-Bay. They come in 12" and 19" lengths. Get the 19" length. The 12"'s are too short.

A part from a kit that you paid for to fix and or make useable from another kit that you need to buy to make the first part work to get that?

I have written a "How TO" yahoo on this subject - Tail Light Bracket Modification to use Stainless Conduit. I have submitted this for the Tech. Tips. Just waiting for it to be published.

I'm thinking of sliding a piece of shrink tube over the conduit up to the light, once in place the heat gun can shrink the tube snug and make it waterproof. Just thinking about it, going to try this soon.

Harold was going to post this but he may still be working or something important like that.

The Tech Tip is finally done. Got some great LARGE pictures for seeing detail.

If you have questions or additional input, be sure to post here. If Harold needs to expand the tip, or add stuff, he'll pull it from here.

Thanks for doing this Harold. Sorry (as always) for the delay.

Harold,

You are most welcome. It is a lot of fun. I wish I had more time and more knowledge. But ... we keep moving ahead, so that's good.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up. I have a few more in the TT pile I'd like to get done before the month is out!
