Where is the color code located on a 1961 Chevy C10 (Apache) pickup truck? I looked inside the glove box: the back of the glove box seems to be made out of cardboard and there's nothing on the metal glove box door.

There is a plate next to left vent that has a paint code.

Thanks jb; never would've found it. There was carpeting glued over it. I'd attach a photo but I can't figure it out right now- it's 721A, pure white.

How'd you get a 4 speed in your Apache? Modified thru the floor board?

What can't you figure out? That is a white truck?

The four speed is an original unit. It has that so called "granny" first gear.

I can't figure out how to include a photo in this forum post.

I see the code for the exterior (721A), which says it should be pure white. What about the color code for the interior? Shouldn't it be on the same plate?

Hot Rod,
On that same plate/tag, do you know what the Trim #'s represent?

Have you downloaded a Vehicle Information Kit for your 1961 truck? Lots of great data.. here's a link: http://gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm...hevrolet-Trucks/1961-Chevrolet-Truck.pdf

On the 63-66 trucks "Trim" = the applicable RPO code. Not sure about a '61. Go to page 36 in the pdf I linked above, page "Cabs and Bodies 3". Lots of pertinent data there and on the following pages.

Hope that helps!

PS: Want to part with that '65 'vette of yours? Got any photos of your rides we could check out?

Hot Rod John

That Vehicle Info Kit was great. I was able to document some additional items on my '61.

Thanks

My 65 vette is a good driver and I'll probably hang on to it.

Glad you were able to glean some data from the GM Heritage site. Pretty awesome they provide the data at no cost now.

Is your 'vette a coupe or convertible? Love those mid year coupes!

The good old SM420. I have one in my 1962. Great transmission for a truck.
