Problem: the original starter had 3 leads; one for the battery cable, and two leads on the solenoid, one of which had a purple wire and the other lead had a white and red (?) wire. Problem: the mini starter only has two leads; one for the battery cable and one on the solenoid. How do I hook the mini starter up, since I guess I am not going to use one of the original leads ? The purple wire is the start wire from the ign. switch or neutral switch. It will hook to the small term. on the solenoid. The other wire is a resister bypass. If you are using HEI you don't need it. If you are using points you may get by without it. You can use a Ford type solenoid as a relay & get the bypass off it. Some ign. switches have a term on them for bypass.
