The purple wire is the start wire from the ign. switch or neutral switch. It will hook to the small term. on the solenoid. The other wire is a resister bypass. If you are using HEI you don't need it. If you are using points you may get by without it. You can use a Ford type solenoid as a relay & get the bypass off it. Some ign. switches have a term on them for bypass.
