@ HRJ, Thanks, John, that's it. I've never seen one in a fleetside, though. What a cool mod for a pickup. It is looking more and more like I'll have to build what I want anyway. I think the easy way to go would probably be to start with a trailer fender that fits the biggest tire you might need.

Was there a spare tire well on/in the Suburban, too?

Always glad to help Roadmarks. I built some mini-tubs for my step side using a trailer fender from the local farm supply store and some stock angle strips from Mar-k to flange the trailer fender. Here's a photo, might be food for thought on your project.
