I'd compare the two and see, I bet by adding a few wires it would be fine.

If I buy a harness for a '55 truck then buy all switch's & relays for a '55 truck then install them in the '50 car then I think that would work . What do u think .????

There are a few things that will be located differently or missing from the truck to car. Wiring lengths may be different, depending on whether the wires are pre-terminated or not, I don't know what you bought. I'm sure you can make it work, but if it's built for the truck it will take some figuring. Even things like fuse box location and where the wires come through the firewall could be different, I'm guessing.

including what #43 and 46G said, I'm thinking this: Wire length will be OK, wiring on old vehicle is pretty easy. I assume you are getting a prewired fuse box. Headlight, tail lights, dome light, license light, horn, probably relay, headlight switch, heater sw, battery stuff, starter stuff, will be similar and you will ,for sure, have to have schematics and a minor understanding of wiring. Mark the old with tags, take the old harness out in one piece or near that, design/build the new to match with improvements while following wiring diagrams. Be sure to clean all ground points down to bare metal and have many, near front lights, near rear lights, near gas sender, at dash gauges/lamps, battery to eng, eng to body, body to frame. Last two are braided strap. Truck may have ballast resistor, car may not. That's all the info you get for a car. nono

Instead of trying to modify a truck harness, I would use a Hotrod Wires 12 circuit. You can custom route the wires wherever they need to be.

I used one of these on my '56 and liked it so well I bought another one for my project truck.

Wanderer: This is a good post for you to report what you did, what you spent and how it turned out. It may be weeks or longer before you know, but please come back and report with details.

I will report back when finished , now I'm leaning to the $150 one , I'm installing 1 in my '55 1st now , that'll take a couple weeks . ( I work slow but steady ) It's going great & I have a print that I got off this forum wire numbers and colors are the same , looking at the '50 coupe all switches ,relays lights are located in same places . I can only locate 2 fuses for brake & tail lights (I'm using inline fuses)the other items I think are on a circuit breaker off light switch. I pulled off the truck to do some work on the coupe . picked up a '57 rear end , drive shaft a 250 with a 350 auto so it will be several weeks before I get to wiring on the coupe ,when I do I'll put the results on this forum...
