I've replaced the head gaskets trucks running fine but now after all winter with the heads off I'm trying to flush out the black milkshake and rust from the blown head gasket. Tried dawn dish washing liquid and greased lightning an still got light tea colored water. I read white vinegar flush any other ideas. Water and a couple cans of flush, run it till hot and drain. Drain, flush with water twice, then refill with 50/50 antifreeze and water.

We would flush with laundry detergent. Tide, Wisk, doesn't matter what brand. It did a wonderful job cleaning things out.
Of course you will then need to flush with straight water a couple times. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 165 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 165 | The oil cooler on my diesel p/u gave out and the higher pressure of the oil pump pumped oil into the cooling system. It was a real mess. I tried dishwasher detergent, dish soap, and purple power. Nada other than it smelt good. Then I tried the stuff called Simple Green. Worked great. You will still have to do it several times but it will work.
Rust should be handled as Hotrod mentioned.
