| | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 28 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 28 | Hi everyone. I'm working on my 72 Jimmy, and it seems my dual factory horns have quit. Took a voltage reading on the feed wire, and only have 6 volts. Could a faulty horn relay cause this??
(Both horns are now bad -- tried 12v - nada)
Also my gas gauge has quit responding...part of the same problem/circuit????

have you simply tried to operate the horns w/ a 12 v source other than your truck?
try a battery

It was a bad relay. Unbolted it from the firewall, and got 12v to the horns. Going to replace the relay.
Tried a direct 12v to the horns already, they're both dead. Reckon the 6volts/ground smoked 'em.
