| | | | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 86 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 86 | Have a 59 Apache with a 6 cylinder. Amp meter jumps around, particulary at idle. When headlights turned on, amp needle rock solid. Pretty steady at driving speed when lights off. Battery stays charged.
Is this something I can adjust to fix, or am I better off leaving well enough alone?

That's not a difficult fix, but you need to find someone familiar with adjusting a 3-unit regulator. One simple fix is to raise the idle speed a little, maybe 50-100 RPM faster. Good luck!
