I'm working on a 53 3/4 ton that's been converted to 12 volts.

the motor was in the truck when I got it and is 12 volts.

the colors of the wires are red which is the hot.
white, yellow, and green.

the switch has 4 terminals B P H and L.

I figure these to be batt, park, high and low

I don't know which of the yellow, green, and white wires are which.

I guessing the ground is through the mounting to the cab.

any ideas out there?

I have a new port wiper and switch with similar labels
Although I have a blue wire not green

Try

L-yellow
H-white
B-red
P-green

A meter set on continuity might help

Have a fuse inline when experimenting.

I do have a fuse in the circuit I'm using a 10 amp.

that wire set up blew the fuse.
I do have a multi meter around here some where.

Check the motor for any Markings

If there is a company label maybe you can call?

I don't know if your is a Newport or not.
Some of the vendors sell a overseas model.

They had been very helpful to me in the past

1. Did the motor have wires on it not connected to switch or did switch have wires on it not connected to motor?
2. Is motor on bench or installed?
3. Get diagram of motor hookup on web or Co. as suggested
4. I would test switch function separately and make a list of what terms make contact to each other at what position.
5. I would test motor separately on bench with voltage/fuse to determine HI, Lo, off/park wires.
6. I guess it's not the type of motor with cable control, I guess it is not set up for washer.
7. The web shows as Dads has said, looking at back of switch..clockwise..red yel wht blu. You say green because you may be color blind . There seems to be a black wire coming off of motor to attach to good chassis ground, or at least a terminal for a black wire. I think I see that wire in Dads pic?

I called newport.
they confirmed dads wire-up and said the park wire may be blue or green. i reconfirmed the wire-up and i added a ground wire from the motor.

newports tech guy thinks the motor is bad or bound.

before i take it out and test it i think i'll get a new switch.

the motor only has the red green yellow and white wires. the motor is in the truck. there is no cable control or washer on the motor.

i'll keep everyone posted

You can test if it is the switch by just touching the appropriate wires together after taking them off switch. If it still blows the fuse, it's not the switch. You can also test the switch with continuity test on it's terminals. That's what Dads was saying. Unless you just want to buy a switch
