I actually anticipated some difficulty with this knowing how clumsily it came apart. So I intentionally left the tank un-strapped to give some freedom to adjust.
There doesn't seem to be a sweet spot at which the angle of the filler neck matches up with the tubes on the tank. Doesn't match worth a crap actually. Bought new filler and vent hoses from Carter. I can get it connected to both sides, but it looks goofy and not enough material on one side or the other to feel good about tightening the hose clamp.
I'm thinking I need to go to the FLAPS and just get a couple hoses about an inch longer and be done with it. But before I give in and do that...just wanted to check and see if anyone else had a similar problem, or if there's some little trick I'm missing.

Radiator hose may come apart with gasoline. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Some you have to buy a short stick, about 15 bucks, and some may sell it by the inch??....My napa use to but not anymore. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 | My Spectra tank/filler neck fit perfectly. Bought from rock auto. The fit is just off a little, not 180 degrees like that one. It can be overcome with a slightly longer hose, and may not even need that if I fiddle with it long enough. I just need another 1/2 to 3/4 inch of hose on the steel. Similar to DADS example. Looks like his alignment was OK but not perfect like yours.
