Is the center bolt on a 54 3100/3600 5/16 or 3/8?

If it's 5/16, I just wasted $4.

5/16 on my 3100 not sure if you call it a true bolt as you cant put a wrench on the end as it is round so it sits down in the axle or your shims. the tension of the springs hold it tight while you tighten the nut.

1/2 inch pin on my aftermarket springs.

the axle must accept up to 1/2?

Crap! Well, I measured it with a caliper. It was pretty rusty. I thought it was 5/16 or 3/8. Guess I was wrong all the way around.

I bought some used springs due to the fact I had a broken main on one side. After I've ordered bushings, shackle rebuild kit and now, another set of center bolts.

I'm wondering why I just didn't buy new springs.

As it turns out they were the right ones. The U-bolts I ordered are about 3/4" longer. I'm pretty sure they'll work and have enough threads.

I used Denny Graham's method of spring bushing removal. It worked great, except for the last one. It turned out to be a multi-tool event.

Body say, die grinder, hammers, punches, screwdrivers, bench vise, electrical tape, and curse words.

Where might I find Denny Graham's method of bushing removal? Thanks!
