Well, I just bought a '54 3800 longbed. Much to my dismay, The cab isn't in as good of shape as I hoped. The bedsides aren't either. It looks like the front sheet metal is going to find it's way onto my 3600. As far as the rest of the truck, I don't know. I may put the cab and hood aside, since I have a good title and do something down the road. The rest, I don't know.

I want to thank fellow Stovebolter Bill Hickey for keying me onto the truck. I also need to thank him and his friends for their help. I guess the Stovebolt is a brotherhood after all.

My trip back home lead me to a pitstop at the I80 truckstop in Walcott, IA. Much to my surprise is was right aroung the time the cars from the "Great Race" were rolling in.

After that, I stopped by the Trucking Museum and took a look and some cool old rigs. I'll post some pictures soon.

Anyway here's a picture of the old girl, I call her, "Old Dirty." http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/whitedog76/media/0623131549_zps662d520f.jpg.html?sort=6&o=0

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Okay ... you'll need to go read the story to find the reason behind the name! Too funny! smile

I see your Gallery posting has been out there for a while. I hope you have this truck on the road. I bought a 54 2 and 1/2 years ago. I chuckled at your comment it does not look as good as it does in the pictures. I know where you are coming from. I love the truck the way it looks. I am happy with mine as a "dirty driver". My daily driver finally died on me a few weeks ago. I was forced to use my 54 as a daily driver for about 2 weeks until I found something else. I seriously considered adopting the 54 as my daily driver and might have done so if it wasn't for the fact the two weeks I was driving it the weather turn very hot and humid. Going done the road is fine but when I had to stop in traffic I started missing my air conditioning. I also have the original drive train and not being able to travel on the interstate has it's own challenges. Best of luck with your build.
