I have a 48 3100 235 wt a 3 speed, I am going to a 1956 235 and 3 speed out of a belair. The 3 speed I have now is a torque tube set up and i am being told that the 235 wt 3 spd I am getting is not set up for a torque tube. Is there a conversion out there or an adaptor so I can use the set up I currently have with the new trans or do I swap trans. Thank you in advance

The easiest swap is to use the transmission that is in the truck. It is the same as the car with the correct tail.

I did the opposite thing on an SM420. From torque tube to drive shaft. I was real easy. 4 four bolt change over. The seals fit and everything. Tail shaft did not change. I suspect the same will be true with the 3 speed. Just get the tail peice off the truck trany. I think when they went to the drive shaft in 55 they used the same tranny and just changed the tail piece. The tranmissions are identical otherwise. I had the advantage of finding a transmission guru who knew exactly what I wanted and had one in pile out back.

Where did all those guys go?
