Rerouted the fuel line over the motor instead of in front. Takes it away from the exhaust. Looking for a cure to vapor lock.

My son and I installed the seat and climbed in for our first real two person fit test (we are both tall at 6-6" and 6'-4"). My son is smiling while pretending what the steering wheel is going to feel like. I have not had a chance to restore the steering wheel yet. Oh, what the heck...let's install the old steering wheel so we can really get the whole experience.

BTW, also put in a test battery and cranked up the stereo for the first time. Sounded great, but I could not get the powered sub to turn on until I realized I never connected the sub power feed to the battery. Doh! But, we were both smiling big. The cab only has a few more things left to complete and then it is on to the box restoration. Maybe 2-3 more months to go.

Picked up '67 Chevelle Malibu from winter storage; drove home.
Brought '51 truck doors up from basement to begin sheetmetal repairs. Haven't worked on truck since last Nov. Winter finally breaking. Next up: hood and fenders.

The other day I pulled out a 6ton Clarke forklift stuck in the gravel. While everyone was scratching their heads, Im immediately already running toward my truck.

While I did have plans on fabricating a new tubular bumper, I wasnt too worried about bending this one

I just got back from my winter truck storage place. I hooked up the new battery to my new battery cables, ( I used welding cable, 4/0 gauge )had to clean the points ( normal wet coast of canada thing) started the truck and checked for leaks on the new fuel/ vacuum lines on my new dual action fuel pump. Set the tire pressures, checked oil pressure and charging, lights and horn. I will be on the road again next saturday.

Mine says 439 pages...

Been sanding on the '41's cab. I'm having adhesion problems with the primer over the rust reformer. Looks like I'll be sanding the whole thing back to bare metal again dang

Well today I found out that what I bought 18 years ago in boxes, bags and tin coffee cans does not contain all the necessary nuts and bolts for my old 52 1/2 ton Chevy. The engine has been rebuilt with new valves, rings and pistons bored .020 over, new bearings, fuel and oil pumps, gasket set and all the starting tools. What I don't have or can't seem to find are the bolts for the water pump, bell housing, thermostat housing and tranny. Does anyone have a master list of the correct sizes needed for all of the above mentioned mounting bolts and any other bracket, clip or spring to my old girl?

When I am missing a bunch of bolts I will grab them at a junkyard off a similar vehicle,I am lucky to have two junkyards with old stuff and plenty of motors laying around to grab bolts and other small parts that are usually missing.

....finally found a filler tube/dipstick for the 700 tranny and installed it, drilled holes and installed the cross member, put the driveshaft in and poured 5 quarts of tranny fluid in it and will finish it up later....maybe tomorrow evening. I want to ride this weekend.

Got the panel off the jack stands and took it for a drive. All seems OK but definitely got to adjust the shift points......ahhh, the wind from the wing vents and cowl vent sure did feel good today. More later.

Dave, great timing! I have been debating with myself on whether or not I wanted to paint the SS bumper bolts on my '52 (with painted bumper). I now know I want them painted. Your grille looks great.

Got my vent window frames painted...jet black. Now off to try and manhandle those rivets that come with the gasket kit. Man, I wish I had some type of a rivet tool that would help me with setting these things instead of having to use that little punch that came with it!

New door felt channels in place, vent windows almost done. Just starting new wire harness and attempting to save the turn signals. For now, it's Miller Time!
BTW, I skipped the rivets and went with W/strip adhesive instead, just don't have enough hands. Next visitor to my house will get to help with rivet on vent window.

Found the best 2 interior windshield frames and cleaned them up. Hope to get them in primer this week.

I'm seriously considering using 3-M weatherstrip stuff myself. I've not read anything good about using those rivets.

Realized my Corvette brake master cylinder (non-boosted) will hit the Patrick's shifter on the Saginaw. Figured out that a '67 Ford Mustang disc/drum MC is narrower and will work, AND that an '87 Dodge D series pickup MC is even narrower and can be set up with two remote reservoirs instead of the modern looking plastic tank it comes with.
...still undecided which to go with tho.

Mrs Cletis and I changed the windshield in the '56 today. Caught a rock from a dump truck a few weeks ago. Hagerty paid the claim with no hassles.

Way to go cletis. Got mine cracked on a trip to K.C. a couple years go. Luckily State Farm replaces glass at no cost. We both did good!! I'll bet June enjoyed helping you.

I drove the panel some more today. The 700R4 is not shifting right...or to suit me, so I drive it, adjust, drive it, adjust. Took Victoria to dinner tonight but she didn't know how to jump out, raise hood, move adjustment. Gosh, I got to teach her better smile

However, the shifting is getting better. I'm just sneaking up on it. I already found out you can't be aggressive adjusting it.

The paint battle on the '41 cab is over!

I purchased this replacement cab from a fellow in CO. He had sandblasted it and then let it sit in a storage unit. I cleaned the light surface rust off it and sprayed it with rust reformer - pictured below top is not cleaned, bottom with rust reformer.

http://s783.photobucket.com/user/jo...ab1_zpsa69a2eac.jpg.html?sort=6&o=94

Then once it was completely cover with rust reformer I sprayed it with rust proof primer.

http://s783.photobucket.com/user/jo...cab_zpsc0a0731e.jpg.html?sort=6&o=95

Then sprayed with sandable primer and the adhesion problems started. Ended up taking the whole cab back down to bear metal and starting over again, and then again. ( I love this hobby, I love this hobby, I love this hobby).

FINALY,

FINALLY got the panel tranny to shift nice and smooth. I think I found the "honey spot". Man the 700 is nice.
Also found a rattle and got it taken care of.

WoooHoooo, got the old 216 fired up after doing a 12 volt generator conversion and wire harness swap.

All the smoke stayed in the wires!
