Jay Leathers and his family live in Stafford Va. He is working on a 1953 GMC half ton and I must say I was very impressed with the level of work he has done by himself in this own garage.
The other day I was doing my usual Mod duties and was reading Jay's thread about some challenges he was having with his 3:55 gear swap. After reading his posts and the responses he was getting I was having a hard time picturing what was going on, then I saw where he was from and realized only 20 minutes away. So I reached out to Jay and offered some help.
Got to his place yesterday and it was prepared like any operating room. We put his gears together, the took my truck out for a quick ride, then installed the third member in his chassis and even fired his 270 and test!
In usual ODSS fashion we had to celebrate this moment with an 8 pt from our brewery, Devils Backbone. This was Jay's first DB, and I think he liked it based on how fast the 6 pack disappeared.
I'll post pics soon as I upload them.
Welcome Jay!

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I have been living in the Stovebolt.com background, scavenging knowledge so to speak.
I am forever greatful to Chris Sweet for driving to my house and helping me out. Not to many people help out total strangers these days.
Your organisation is very lucky to have a guy like Chris Sweet around. Plus he is pretty good with a wrench and hammer.
I am planning to attend homecoming in Maryland and hope to meet everybody.
See you there.
Thanks Again Chris,
Jay Leathers

I have been in your shoes before...when I got my truck, SWEET came over to my house in Bowling Green and fired it up for the first time. That was my introduction to the great bunch of guys that make up the ODSS. We've been friends ever since.
Welcome aboard!
