Are you doing any other mods or just this? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | Just did one on a 55 frist and did not have to do anything to the fire wall or the floor.Put in a SBC and a 700 4r trans.

Like 46GMCpu ….. I have a 455 Buick and a turbo 400 in my 51 panel and zero firewall or tunnel issues. A small block should have loads of room without any firewall mods.

Installed a small block Chevy. Did not modify firewall. Used a BIG distributor and can still get my hand between the dist. and firewall. I set my engine in using this layout. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r19/LutherParris/52Panel/Engmount.jpgEDIT: I did trim about 1/2" off at the front of the transmission hole where the tranny came against it when leveling the engine...but just a little.

On my Suburban, everything tucked in nicely without modifying any sheet metal. | | |
