We just relocated to Asheville, NC area. Are there any upcoming activities in the western NC, northern SC, Ga area? Have a 58 Chevy step side long bed trying to get running. Needs minor body, paint, bed wood and re-wire to stock. Then will be selling.

JD Bob, I did some "reunions" (about 6 of them) here at my place but due to several things didn't get to have one here in 2013 but Ernie did one in Strawberry Plains, Tenn.

ANYONE, that wouldn't mind putting up with a few folks and some nice old trucks please step forward. We need to plan one NOW.

Ernie, I think, would do another this year. In fact, we need to do several Southern Gatherings so everyone will have a chance to take part. Everyone can't travel long distances but there are so many of us that we should be doing one each month SOMEWHERE.

I'd even try to squeeze one in if I can get things ironed out at my house.

Alvin,
We have settle in and bunker-ed down for the winter, we'll most definitely be heading down south during the summer to visit family. If we can schedule our family visit with a Southern Reunion we'll be more then happy to veer off the trail.

Bread, we're still having to look after Victoria's dad for now but I'm thinking seriously about doing one in late April or maybe sometime in May..... before it gets to hot.

Glad your all settled in. should we be coming your way a short stop will also be in order.
Take care, and hi to the lady and little ones.

Alvin

Alvin,
I hope Victoria's dad gets better and we wish the best for you all. The family is doing fine; adjusting to the weather is all.
I'll make every effort to stop by for a visit if its at your home or any where else in NC/SC. Who's going to be behind the grill?
We'll chime in once something gets set up.

I plan to put something small together over here as a starter and see where it goes from there. You and your family are always welcome in our home so if you are in the area, stop on by.

Hello Skip,
I missed out last years reunion in Strawberry because I wasn't in the area in time. I am now a closer than last year (8 hr. drive) so if it comes up again, I'll make plans to attend.

Skip41, for the first 6 years I had the Southern Reunion here in Spartanburg. (the last ones at my house) However, last year I could not do it. Health issue's family events and my father in law has needed much of our time and help.

Ernie, in Strawberry Plains, did it in April last year. We wish it had been better attended but since it was the first I think it went well and Ernie really put on a FEAST.

...and before the "Southern Area" expanded to take in more territory my "collection" of email addresses for the southern bolters was kind of out dated. I still currently have over a hundred names on the Southern list but it does NOT contain a lot of the newer, and older, guys in Tenn. Va. Fl. Ala. Ms. and so on.

Personally, I had planned to try have it here at my house this year but currently its not looking good. I was wishing for an April or May shot here but its looking doubtful.
A lot of the "charter" members are from S.C. N.C. Ga. and part of Tenn.

Since some may not be able to drive the distances it'd be nice to have several spaced around the area. I know Brad54 would welcome us to the Ga. Swap meet at the Alanta Dragway but we need someone to contact him and go out and maybe help set up a tent and hang the flag!

All this being said, ANYONE wanting to have what we now call a GABFEST feel free to pick a date, post it here and lets do it.
We can start a new thread for those coming and I can keep up with that and moderate it.
We have a GREAT group of Southern Bolters. We always have a good time and enjoy stories and old trucks.

Note: some folks I would like to add to the list but some never list their email address in their profile and it takes time to PM and do what needs to be done.

This is the TENTH Reunion in Kansas City this year and will be the Southern Bolters 6th....... say, anyone want to join up and go to Kansas? We have a blast there to........ Alvin

EDIT: Earnie has since got married but he did indicate to me at one time he could do it again. We need feedback and who and how many could do it. Ernie, you listening. What you think..... and ANYONE else. Time is ticking and we need to get going/planning if we want to do something. Heck, I want to go to Florida to one Wayne and guys have been doing.

Sorry ... I just posted another thread before I saw this one.

I can host the Gabfest the last weekend in April say the 26th or May 3rd. Since the word is out on the quality of the food ... I would expect more bolters to attend. lol

Ernie, I hope to go to the homecoming the weekend of the 26th but don't let that hold anyone up.

May 10th ...... I've ask Jay "lugnutz" if the big parking lot gathering in Columbia is on the 2nd Saturday of the month and if we could do a gathering there. I have not heard from him but if we want we could move it to the 2nd Saturday of June. Lets see what he says.
UPDATE: GATHERING IS SCHEDULED FOR 10TH MAY.

Now we're getting things rolling....... More to come. We can set a couple dates and start advertising and getting the word out.

...now anyone in Ga. wanting to gather at the Alanta Dragway like we did last year? Please chime in and we'll get that on Brads schedule for us to be there.

...Wayne, anything where we can gather in Florida. You know, drive in, eat, chat and tell lies. (we don't do that in S.C. smile
then drive home later in the evening?

Let get the talk going guys. It'll be winter again before we know it.
