Very dangerous having fuel
vapor in the crankcase.
Way back in the mid 60's my 235 in my '60 Biscayne sprung a leak
crossing the desert on my way to my next duty station. It blew
over to the exhaust and caught fire. I manage to put it out
with some rags but not before it had burned up the ignition
wires.
After some time someone finally came by (back then there wasn't
much traffic crossing the desert) and gave me a ride into town.
We towed it back and I spent the night waiting to get the
repairs done and get back on the road. I was lucky the whole
car didn't go up in flames.
Leaky fuel system is nothing to play with.

If the oil is a coffee with cream light brown (not the carbon black) its coolant. Fuel will not change the color of oil much. What your dipstick with coolant in the oil will look like If you have leaked enough fuel into the pan to rais the level it will smell like gas.. no doubt about it. So check your coolant level also.
