(I'm not positive on the year) C10 that has 45k original miles in the next few weeks. It has been sitting in a truck shed for 24 years since my wife's great-grandparents passed away. What do y'all suggest as the first things to do? I'm thinking hoses, belts, spark plugs, battery, replace engine fluids, check wiring, empty gas tank and check for rust, overhaul brakes, new tires. What am I missing? My intentions for this truck is a driver, get it running and drive it for a while then think about cosmetic stuff as it is a little rusty. I'm in MS and for most of the time the truck was covered pretty well but after some good wind the last few years the truck shed became unstable and roof was about half gone so the shed has been torn down. Now I'm in the process of talking my wife's grandfather into giving me the truck instead of another family member. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 | Looks like a real survivor  Trying to prevent damage to the cylinders - rings - pistons - valves, due to rust, and getting rust from the fuel system into the carb / engine would also be a concern since it has been sitting that long, in a humid climate.
