good morning to all,
this weekend i attempted to replace the glass on my 38 half ton. the front window was replaced however i see a small gap and the guy said he cut it right but it needs to be centered? so i might have to add more tape around the bottom part.

does anyone know how to replace the back window? my truck didnt have it installed so i dont know how to do this? i got the right rubber from window gasket but i dont know how to put it on? i thought it should have screws to be secured to the back window??

lastly the door glass? should i leave a gap of glass on each side so this could go up and down the railing?

thanks in advanced.

I believe my 37 and yours are the same? Its been years since I put my glass in but maybe this will help?
As I best remember The glass fits down in a track and yes, the glass should be centered in that track. Did you put in new glass channels? I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the gap but there should not be one around the window anywhere.

On the back window I don't remember if I put the glass in the rubber gasket and then installed or put the rubber around the opening and then put the glass in....however, once you get the rubber gasket and glass in place you should have a frame that fits around the glass on the outside. Then you have screws that go in from the inside and through the rubber gasket and screw into the outside frame. The rubber gasket may not have the holes for the screws to go through. Back in 97 my did not and I had to drill holes through the rubber gasket.

Hope this helps in some way. Pehaps someone who has recently done this will chime in. Good luck. I'll keep watch to see how you make out. If necessary I'll pull my door panel off and take a look/pictures.

I just did my rear window for my 37. I prefit it because I am painting the truck right now and want to make sure it fit. It is going to be tight and you might need some help and soap and water to get it in. Now I am assuming you have the rear glass frame that hold all this together (no one make this in the aftermarket world, so you have to get one from ebay or one of the guys that sell old used parts) . The screw goes thru from inside the cab and hold the rear molding along with the rear glass in the truck. I put the gasket on the rear window and put in the hold and trimmed it until it fit, then I used a marking pin from the inside and marked where I had to drill the holes in the gasket, then put the screw in from the inside and let it sit so it could form to the hole. Good Luck Jerry

My first prewar and it will not be my last. Done with the 40 for my best friend. Got a 46 (year I was born) to build for me.
