I had an early 90's Ford Tempo that had dual mufflers. behind the Cat it appeared to be a factroy installed Glass Pack and right under the rear bumper was the actual muffler.
My '04 Trailblazer has dual mufflers also. In front of the axle is the muffler and under the bumper is the resonator. It's quiet as can be.
