Some battery chargers don't like small wire gauge extension cords or very long extension cords. Mine is well over 7 y/o, a Schumacher, I never move it, always plugged straight into the wall. I had a buddy go thru several chargers by using 200+ft of cord to start cars(too lazy to pull the battery out-but he does now). Brian
