shouldn't die with a dead battery [still in the circuit], cuz it will run off the generator, but if the battery is running down that fast, something must be wrong with the charge circuit, like gen not genning or regulator stuck/broke ... and might just have some real poor connection someplace in the circuit, or a short that drains the batt
