On my 54 325 I run Fentons with 2" pipe with some standard off the shelf 12" mufflers. Sounds good, doesn't drone, good for daily driving. Still enough to get people to look.
Now, I just got done setting up the exhaust on my 55 truck with a 235 and once again Fentons, 2" but 24" brockman mellowtones with glass. I haven't fired it yet but should sound good. There are some videos on utube that have the mellowtones in action if you are interested.
When I was trying to figure out the setup, I determined that a crossover would defeat the unique sound of the 235. They have that unique sound because of the header set-up vs. fireing order. Gives it that 'rolling-lumpy' sound.
