I have a '56 3600 that I am slowly rebuilding.

I pulled the entire fuel system (tank, sending unit, hard and soft fuel lines, fuel pump and carb) and am replacing/rebuilding everything. Under the truck where there is a section of soft line connecting the cab to the frame section someone had spliced in a cheap napa plastic fuel filter. I guess this works but it's not period correct and it's ugly. Was there a regular production option for either these trucks or the 3100 models to add a fuel filter? I found this

Where would it be added? Before the fuel pump or before the carb. I would think before the pump like on a conventional application but am not sure where it would be mounted in-line.

Any pics of application would be great.

Thanks.
