Well, I would not have thought this would be so hard, especially with all the good suggestions and sources I was given. The terms I have found for the feature I want is "vibration support" or "insulation grip" (which provides vibration support). I would think that I would want this feature just as much on my "ring tongue" terminal for my screw type oil and temperature sender as I do on my headlights. I guess the industry doesn't agree (or at least not the way I wanted). It appears fairly easy to get a barrel connector either insulated or non with the insulation grip. I recently purchased a pair of Accel 170036 crimpers and was very impressed with the plug wire crimps. It includes a set of dies for "primary connectors" that is (for lack of better terms) a "W" crimp. Having seen the disconnect terminals with the vibration support insulation grip, and the tool having multiple guage slots, again I just figured I could get hook tongue, ring tongue, fork tongue, etc terminals. I have been to all the recommended sites above, plus the Panduit catalog and other search hits, but haven't found any yet.
Yes, I'm one of those that when I get it in my mind how I want it done, it will continually bug me knowing I couldn't do it that way.
btw, yes, many suppliers state that their insulation band or head shrink provides the insulation grip or vibration support, and to some degree it does and may be all I am going to get.
