Your 53's interior looks alot like my 49's. The raised ribbing on my 49's radio speaker cover and glovebox door were either chrome or polished and matched. Maybe there was brown paint inbetween the polished ribbing but it's hard to tell. When I put the elbow grease on them to try to clean them up it removes everything down to the base. I do know that the ribbing wasn't painted. Same w/the ash tray.
I recently picked up some parts off of a 50 3100 and the speakergrill cover is painted w/the brown color that matches the original color of the interior. It is fully painted much like yours.
I didn't get a glovebox door w/the parts so I don't know what the finish would have been.
Can't help w/your 1st question, on my 49 the entire door(s) are painted brown.
