I've been told that older GM vehicles would kill the DRL if the parking brake was partially engaged. Not enough to drag the brakes, just one notch. At least for now DRL in the US is on a state by state basis. A local fellow was complaining today about GMs mandatory DRL idioicy. He want's to turn his off and can't. Says he doesn't want a nanny, just a truck.
