I have the Stang II on my 37 and we put a dummy block in the engine compartment to make sure the distributor missed the firewall. My floor board remained the same but with this set up the engine will sit "LOW" in the compartment..which mine does. That would most likely make cooling it somewhat of an issue unless you run a full electric fan?? (note: I used my original chassis, no clips)
On my AD 52 panel I installed a 305 with a 350 tranny, but I used the straight axle and motor mounts that slide in the original chassis. I think it sets "up" pretty good, no firewall interference, no problem getting the tranny in. Plenty of room. All this said what happens will most likely be determined by where "they" have it set up for the engine mounts as 46GMCPU has mentioned. I Plan to put a 700R4 in my panel but it bolts up and is just like the 350 tranny but is about 4" longer.
Let us know how it works out with the stang II. Maybe something I said here will help you in your "planning".
