Brother Cosmo is a veteran of rebuilding these transmissions, I had the pleasure of helping on his current build in this daily driver. There is a solenoid that engages once the truck is in motion over 30 mph or so (Cosmo knows the exact speed). Then you lift your foot off the gas just briefly and it kicks it into OD.
