I finished making some simple side boards for the bed of the '46. I'm no wood worker by any stretch of the imagination so simple is good! The boards are 120 year-old 1x12 siding we salvaged off my Dad's old barn a decade ago, slathered in several coats of spar varnish. Yes, I very well may have totally ruined some very expensive wood (didn't cost me a dime though). but I didn't want new lumber on my old truck.
At least I didn't have to strap down my cooler and chairs for the first awarded car show it lumbered to over the weekend, and I even got to haul a little something back home with me!
What do you folks think? Keep the sides or ditch them?
