no such thing as a "power surge" on a battery system Slow, you got a bad short someplace and ya oughta park it till ya find the problem - could be the ammeter, but I think everything else will be getting power from that wire too on a 42, so you need to start disconnecting and measureing the current until you find the culprit - could just be a bare wire someplace
