A bunch of great tips in the search for the gremlin, but don't forget, it probably isn't a "device" that is shorting, but rather the wires running to it. You can also take a flashlight and look around under the dashboard. If the leak is there, you should be able to see a small pile of "amps" on the floor that have fallen out of the broken wire..look closely as they are mighty small!
