My trucks both had hard line coming off the check valve (there was a small, 3 inch piece of rubber from the check to the hardline, held on with hose clamps) across the front of the firewall, then down. The only rubber was a small section where it jumped from the hard line on the cab to the vacuum intake on the piston canister.
It was the same coming off the intake to the check valve. Hard line then rubber.
That is how the factory ran the lines for my MVs
