Modern Semi's often have remote posts to attach jumper cables or charger without removing battery box cover. you just need to find a spot and install insulated posts and heavy gauge cables. The down side is if you don't remove battery cover and inspect battery and connections you may miss developing problems. Remote post also reduce risk of explosion due to sparks igniting battery gases.You would be ahead of the game to get a shop manual or check keith hardy's online manual project in the links section. That would allow you to familiarize youself with the vehicle and better understand the answers to your question.
