Not stealing the thread,but wanted to throw my 2 cents in.
I'd been wanting the Newport Eng. conversion since I got my '54 because I've been told how good their products are,so I finally bit the bullet and bought one directly from them. I didn't have time or energy to fabricate a set up,though I do have a couple of universal wiper motors from a motor home on the shelf.
It was relatively easy to install and works great. I learned the easy way to reach the mounting screw on the passenger side of the motor was to remove the cowl vent-then I could lay on the hood and reach right in there to tighten it. This might be a "54-E.'55 GMC only" issue.
