I would like to share my solution for a vacuum to electric wiper motor conversion. I was not able to find the popular rear donor motor from a 90's Blazer or Jimmy. I brought home 2 rear glass hatch door donor motors to experiment. So I horse traded a salvaged heater core I had in my garage and we made an even trade for the 2 junk motors.1 Jeep Wrangler and 1 1993 Suburban. First thing I noticed, was how much longer than the Blazer the shafts were on both. I thought why not mount it in the same spot as the original!
Swivel wiper arm pivot
I chose the Jeep motor. Starting with flat steel, 1"wide x 1/8". Drilled a hole on center to except th end of the motor shaft & a welded 5/8" lock collar. Reference the original vacuum motor and found that it had a 5" distance on center between the 2 mounting bolts. Drilled out the swivel plate the same as original distance.
New bracket to secure Jeep Motor
1" pipe x 2" long cut in two.(trim to fit later for clearance)
Cut 2 pcs of 1" wide x 1/8 flat steel to approx 3" lenght each
slot pipe halves to accept the flat steel, weld.
Weld ears on pipe halves to bolt and squeeze clamp to motor shaft. Dry fit,cut & trim for clearance. This method allows for fine tuning and clearance. Works well and will give fellow stovebolters a chance to use other donor motors not previously mentioned. This I think is a very cheap and dependable solution for anybody that would like to attempt this fun project.
