Denny I have a similar tool as the New Britain valve-adjusting tool. Except mine was made by Zim. It's what I use when I have the engine warmed up and running to set the valves. I adjust them by (ear) same as you and your Pop. I'll use feeler gauges to cold set the valves, but then it's Zim's turn.
