Have you set your valve tappets per the manual?
What weight oil are you running?
This is the oil burner right?
If your tappets are set right, and your oil isn't super thin, or diluted with gasoline (washing down the cylinders from an overly rich mixture, or shot rings), you might want to drop the oil pan and check the clearances on your con rods, and mains.
