There is no 1948 or later trans that will have the shifter in the same position.
If you are going to that bellhousing a S10 T5 trams would be the way to go.
1940-54 axle housings will except the 1955-62 1/2 ton center section making it a easy open driveline conversion. The axles are all the same spline also.
You will need to remount the axle housing solid to the springs.
