Lugnutz, I got the little book Metal Bumping that is often recommended on this site. I do watch car shows but no specialized instructional videos. You can get all the info you need on paint and bodywork right on this site if you search some.
Several people list detailed instruction on how to achieve good results. What I hard to learn (over and over) is not to skip any step and they are ALL important. I figure I painted the truck about 2 1/2 times counting all the times I had to redo parts. The smallest things like masking with minimal creases and crevices or closing the door gently when leaving the painting area can make a lot of difference in the amount of "dirt" you get in your paint. I did not have a dedicated paint booth.
