Mine kinked too. I took a couple of pie shaped wedges out of the kinked portion. I had some clear plastic tubing that was a snug fit into the roundish portion of the windlace. Pushing the tubing in one end and then feeding it back into the opposite side where you cut the wedge is how I resolved my kinks. Not a perfect solution but it looks a lot better than it did.
