Be sure it is a double flare where the steel is folded back over. I can't remember the exact name of that fitting, got old-timers disease right now. Also be sure the tubing is straight where it goes through the nut on the tube, sounds like it could be bent, causing misalignment (and the leak). Time for bed for this old man.
