Joseph. Now you are talking. Keep the automatic. You will have something unique and of more value than the manual. And it will be so much easier. Even at $3,000 it may end up being cheaper or close to the cost of changing everything out.
Another thought is to take it to a local tranny shop and have them take a look at it. Change the fluids ETC. Maybe there is not much wrong with it.
