the pin there talking about holds the distribitor gear to the distribitor shaft, you shouldn't have to remove that unless your taking the distribitor apart to rebush or something. if i remember on mine there is a bolt holding the distribitor inthe block somewhere around the bottom by the vacuum advance which comes out with the distribitor. hope this helps
